Eye Clinic Receives Huge Response
Tears rolled down the cheeks of a young Ugandan woman, recently fitted with prescription glasses, as she nodded her head in agreement with eye clinic volunteer Lyn Waughs statement, "Now you will be able to see your children through the window playing outside." In dawning realization, Lyn admitted, "I knew in that moment she had never been able to see [her children from a distance] before."
During the CCA East Africa Pastors and Leaders Conference, an 11-member team from Calvary Chapel Stone Mountain (CCSM) in Lilburn, GA, ministered to roughly 100 people each day during the three-day conference, handing out over 180 prescription eyeglasses and about 200 reading glasses. A local pastor joked, "Now I can see who's sleeping in the congregation!" After putting on his glasses, another man said, "It looks like Heaven!" A young woman ex- citedly jumped up and down, exclaiming, "I can see! I can see!" after looking through her new lenses. "It was packed from the time we opened at 9 a.m. until we closed at 6 p.m.," noted Assistant Pastor James Chapman.
